30 Day Challenge
DAY 23: Luke 15:11-32 (Outreach): Two attitudes are illustrated by Jesus. First is that of the Father who longs for the return of the wayward son. The second is the frustration of the elder brother who feels younger brother is getting better than he deserves. What are we to do when we find that our attitude doesn't match the Father's? As we pray for the Lost today, ask the Father to change your attitude. I regularly ask God to give me a genuine burden of concern for the people of our community. I set my alarm for 10:02 and pray Luke 10:2 every morning, asking God for the privilege of joining him in the “harvest”. Most people are content to “feel what I feel”. God, however makes it possible for us to feel what He feels... I choose to agree with God.

Children Ministry

Jesus once said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" (Mt. 19:14 NIV).  Children are precious to Jesus... and they are precious to us!  Following are some of the ways we nurture our kids and their love for God.

NOTE TO TEACHERS: This site is under construction.  Please personalize your class descriptions and submit pictures... we can even create a blog for your individual class.  Send all updates to office@chattanooganazarene.org

Sunday School

Nursery (birth - 2 years):  Mrs. Peggy Derryberry has introduced two generations of First Church kids to Sunday school.  Her loving attention makes the nursery a fun and safe place to be.

Pre-School (3 - 5 years):  We introduce our kids to the Bible through stories and crafts.

Early Elementary (1-3rd grade): Mrs. Marla Owenby and Mrs. Kim Smith  continue to nurture our kid's love for God through Bible stories and thought-provoking activities.

Late Elementary (4-5th grade): Mrs. Tonya Derryberry set our older students up for a life filled with Christ.

Children's Church

We believe that it is important for our children to see their parents and elders worship.  We also include them with the special music.  The kids are dismissed after prayer to Children's Church with Ms. Jeanette and friends. The last Sunday of each month the children remain in the service where, if their parents approve, they are encouraged to particpate in communion.

Sunday Night Bible Quizzing (September - May)

Mr. Alan and Jonathan McKenzie are leading our kids through a study on Exodus in preparation for monthly quiz meets.

Wednesday Program (Wednesdays, September - May)

Pastor Eric is currently leading our Kid's Club in a Museum Adventure.  Kid's Club is a very interactive worship service with music, object lessons, games and a great Bbile lesson.
